My South West USA
Trip
On the 8th of May I flew to Las Vegas Nevada
which was an 11 hour trip for a vacation. I stayed at the Marriott Grand
Chateau, in a suite because there were 6 of us and we shared the 2 bedrooms. It
had a massive king bed with an en-suite bathroom with a large bath and a
massive shower. The second bedroom had a
bathroom as well. We stayed there for 2 days to recover from the jetlag. My
parents and I ate at a restaurant called Lobster Me in the Miracle Mall
opposite the hotel, and it was delicious, I had lobster salad, served on
arugula and romaine lettuce with cucumbers, red onions and cherry tomatoes.
Then the next day we went to the Grand Canyon in Arizona. It
was amazing to see how deep and how long and large it was.
Then two days later, we went to Monument Valley in Arizona,
this place was beautiful! I was told that over the years, Monument Valley has
been the setting for more Western movies than any other site in the United
States. The unique sandstone formations are really amazing to see. The site
belongs to the Navajo Native American nation. I met one man there who was selling jewellery that
was hand made by his and he said he was a sheep farmer nearly all his life but
working as a jewellery seller was better. I think the Four Corners Monument
define the vast and open desert region.
The next day we went to the Horseshoe Bend in Page Arizona;
I think is this is one of our great favourite small hikes; this trip did not
cost anything. In the afternoon we went
to Antelope Upper Canyon in an open truck.
The ride was rough, but the Navajo road leading to it was
beautiful. This canyon is amazing with
its twisted shapes. We went in the
evening to Blue Bakery & Wine Bar and we had tapas. I liked the calamari
tacos. The food was excellent.
The next day, we went to a small village called Tropic in Utah
to stay for 2 days. We stayed at a small hotel Called Americas Best Value Inn
& Suites and we went for diner and breakfasts at the Clarke's Restaurant
witch is literally next door. The reason
for our stay was to visit the Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah. It was
awesome, the brilliant colour on the amphitheaters. The millions of years of wildlife, water and
geologic mayhem have shaped and etched the pink cliffs at Bryce which are
amazing to see.
Next morning, we went to Zion National Park in Utah, it was
pouring down with rain that day with some sunny spells. We hiked in the rain. The
park is stunningly beautiful.
