Fangirl Book Review
I really hated Cath as a character. She was SO immature, and I hated how holier-than-thou she acted towards literally everyone around her. She was always acting like she was so much better than everyone else, so full of herself in a really unattractive way. It made her difficult and annoying to read. On top of that, I found her extremely immature, especially in her judgemental approach to drinking, drugs and sex. It really irked me to read and it made me feel judged and on the whole, I just really couldn't stand her.
I couldn't stand Levi for the most part either. He felt really fake to me. Something about his vibe was so unathentic and he had so many lines that just sounded SO RIDICULOUS to read to me.
I liked how it was a story about fandom, I thought that was compelling. And I liked how it wasn't instalove, and I liked the ending of the book as well. I liked how the book portrayed a relationship, even though some moments it felt a bit over the top. I also liked how the book portrayed a character with a mental illness without it being all about her mental illness - that was really neat. I also loved the writing - Rainbow Rowell is just such a fantastic writer on the whole.
I don't know if I'd read it again, but I'm glad I read it, cause Rainbow Rowell. However, I've only enjoyed 1/3 of the RR books I've read so now I'm wondering if maybe I should just stop reading her books cause clearly they ain't working for me all that much.
