NO-BAKE TOASTED GRANOLA

NO-BAKE TOASTED GRANOLA

No-Bake Toasted Granola

Vegan

Summer breakfast in a bowl to me is homemade granola topped with a bunch of bright berries, but more often than not I'm too peckish to wait for it to bake and often end up catching it in the oven anyway resulting in a whole lot more crunch than expected. Here's where I got my idea for a no-bake granola, instead a toasted granola made in a pancake pan - it's just as good, almost gives it a slight 'popcorn' flavour and is a much speedier way to serve it up...

Prep Time: 1 minute | Cook Time: 15 minutes | Serves: 1-2

Ingredients:

1/3 cup almonds
1 tbsp goji berries
1 tbsp toasted coconut flakes
1 tbsp pumpkin seeds
1 tsp chia seeds
2 tsp coconut oil
1 cup rolled oats
2 tbsp coconut nectar
1/4 tsp vanilla powder
Pinch salt

Method:

Place the almonds, goji berries, coconut flakes, pumpkin seeds and chia seeds in a food processor and pulse it a couple of times to break everything up slightly. In a pancake or skillet pan, melted the coconut oil, then add in the rolled oats and allow them to toast for around 8 minutes, turning constantly. Next, add in the granola mix from the food processor, turning it through and allowing it to toast for a further few minutes, it should start to smell like popcorn (yum!). Add in the coconut nectar, vanilla powder and a pinch of salt, stir that through and again, allow it to toast for around 5 minutes. Set aside and leave it to cool slightly before serving.

Serving Suggestion:

Serve with chilled almond or coconut milk, fresh berries and fresh mint leaves.

The Monthly Playlist: May

The Monthly Playlist: May

In order to catch up a little on these, I thought I’d pop May’s playlist out before the end of the month- just so we’re not totally behind now that so many brilliant albums have been released in May.
May was a month of lots of new music, including incredibly Fleetwood Mac inspired new sounds from Beth Ditto, more Gus Dapperton (because I. Just. Can not. Stop) and possibly the most exciting with new sounds from my favourite Florence. I have pretty much not stopped listening to Sky Full Of Song (I can already promise that it’ll be on my Itunes most played for 2018), and Hunger has only just started to replace it. I also included some wonderful throwbacks from Iggy Pop, Friends, The White Stripes, Ray Charles and Prince- because what’s a good playlist without a little old school boogie? Enjoy!

Outlander’ Cast Gets a Well-deserved Break After Season Four Filming

Outlander’ Cast Gets a Well-deserved Break After Season Four Filming

When filming for Outlander season four finishes, the cast (and probably some of the crew) will be in for a hiatus longer than usual.  At the BAFTA TV Awards last night, Caitriona Balfe had this to say:
“We have an extended hiatus, we have about seven months off.”

This is much longer than the few months off they have had in the past.  With filming ending this summer (season three finished filming in June 2017), this puts filming for season five into January/February 2019.  I can think of at least one reason this may come as an advantage; the filming will span spring and summer in Scotland, which I am sure will be a welcome change from shooting in the fall/winter and ending when it finally starts to warm up.
This will inevitably lead to another long Droughtlander as filming will not end a few months prior to the fan-expected premiere month in the fall unless they plan on premiering the first episode while still filming.   We may not see a season five premiere in 2019, but considering season four does not premiere until November 2018, we will have new episodes in 2019 as season four wraps up.
Another bonus for those of us who are fans of the actors involved in Outlander is that they will have more time to do other film and/or television projects.
All in all, I am excited for the cast and crew to have a bit more time off from the grueling pace and amount of time devoted to Outlander filming.  We know that pre-production of the episodes happens many months prior to when the first camera rolls, including writing those scripts, and we are always grateful for what they all do to make Outlander come alive on the small screen.

The Monthly Playlist: April

The Monthly Playlist: April

I have to say, I think out of all of my recent Itunes playlists, April’s may be one of my favourites I have ever made. It is certainly one I know I’ll look back on in months to come and still love, and one that’ll throw me back to times and places with just one listen. With some of the songs discovered whilst in south of France driving around in twilight in the back of a cab, to endless repeats of Gus Dapper-ton (thanks for the intro, Joe) as well as Matt Berry (yup, he sings too) and ahem, Moana- to which I’m still not certain how that got in there… Anyway! I hope you enjoy- and as always, please let me know what you’ve been listening to, too!

Beauty Favourite

Beauty Favourite

mylunarose

Today I'm going to tell you about my beauty favourites sorry i've haven't done one for a very long time and it is time to have one and i hope you like it!

it cosmetics

Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream with SPF 50+

" I can’t even begin to say how fantastic this foundation is. I have tried lots of full coverage foundations but you have to use loads of product to get the affect you want. BUT NOT WITH THIS, it truly gives a full coverage with the smallest amount of product.

When they say you will get comments about your makeup when wearing this, my instant thought was Yeh! Yeh!... BUT it is true! The first two times I used this my friends said how lovely my make up looked...To be honest I was shocked! I could see how nice it was but never expected others to notice a difference. I am also high risk after having skin cancer so the 50 SPF is an added bonus. As long as iT cosmetics sells this I will NEVER have to look for anything else. "

l oreal paris color riche shine 642

This is a beautiful dark purple shade. It was the first time I to put on a dark purple lip color and I absolutely loved it. It has a really nice shine with intense color which it was quite long lasting on my lips, without drying them. The texture was perfect. I applied it without a lip liner, smudging the edges slightly, to make is less sharp. I will be wearing it next time with a lip liner for more definition. It has a nice subtle scent. I was less keen on the packaging, I didn't find the transparent case particularly attractive. Overall, lovely high shine lipstick. Perfect way of wearing dark lip color, informal and modern.

Dior Addict Lip Glow, 001 Pink

Bought the coral and pink. Leaves lips feeling moisturised, cared for but not sticky. My lips suffer during winter months so came back to this product after using up during summer months due to must, daily use. More expensive than a regular balm but worth every penny - beautiful packaging too.

beautyblender

beautyblender pure (1 piece)

I actually use this to apply my sunscreen and it works out perfectly! I am an avid sunscreen user and sometimes it is hard to apply those sunscreens with a slightly thicker texture. I use my Pure Beauty Blender and it works out amazing! Also great for touch ups throughout the day so I do not have to keep touching my face.
bobbi brown vitamin enriched face base

amazing for skin , i got normal-dry skin and always struggled to find a hydrating cream that works more than 1 time , a very luxurious face cream

the body shop skin defence
Out of all the spfs i have bought and tried, this is by far my favourite!
Doesn't leave a paleness to skin and it is almost like it sinks into skin, leaving no weird, thin flaking coat over skin in which ive experienced with plenty of spfs before.

Sarah Chapman Londen  Skinesis Overnight facial
It is a luxury product so I treasure each drop. The recepient seems big but there is only 15 ml inside! I was hésitant to order it but the users were so enthusiastic that I decided to risk. In short: it is silky and smells great ( in fact it is the only frangaranced product that I use and like ). I use it the evenings when I want to pamper myself.

How To Make The Most Of Free Beauty Samples

How To Make The Most Of Free Beauty Samples

mylunarose

There was a point in my life in which I was subscribed to every beauty subscription plan and box around, it was an expensive habit but in the earlier days of beauty blogging it was a service that all but dominated the industry. Slowly but surely the trend has fizzled out and there are far less options around which isn't necessarily a bad thing as it was quickly becoming stale, but what do you do with all the mini and sample sized cosmetics you have accumulated over the years?

If you are anything like me you will have them stashed away in a drawer to quickly become forgotten about but with Summer on the horizon (if you squint into the near distance you might just see it) there couldn't be a better time to get organised and de-clutter once and for all.

Perfume Vials
Fragrance counters, beauty boxes and even magazines are quick to dole out tiny, and often glass vials of perfume. Why? Simply put it is a cheap and cheerful way to advertise and in the case of a beauty box an affordable way to add bulk out skimpy contents (sometimes the truth hurts). Initially I used to loathe receiving the tiny atomisers but I have grown to appreciate just how convenient they can be for certain situations; for example they are the perfect size for popping in a gym bag to freshen up with, not to mention they fit into the smallest of clutch bags, so you don't have to worry about leaving your fragrance at home on a night out - if you lose it, no big deal.

Hair and Skin Care Sachets
Is there ever quite enough conditioner in one sachet to really nourish your hair? No but if you have a few at your disposal you might just manage and that is why I keep all my skin and hair care sachets; they are ideal for overnight trips and weekends away. As someone with long hair there is never enough shampoo, nor conditioner in my hotel bathroom so those little foil packs come in handy to supplement any dinky bottle of hair care. As for skincare, I do find that the small sachets more than provide enough product for at least one night and as they are so small they are a dream to pack for any kind of trip and also ideal for using aboard a flight.

Mini Cosmetics
Again I do tend to save smaller cosmetics be it a lipstick, a bottle of toner, or a travel sized cleanser for vacations; typically they are sized in a way that makes they acceptable for hand-luggage so you can save both space and money - and you don't have to worry about bringing a half empty bottle of cleanser home, as after a few days you will most likely have finished it.

Free Cosmetic Bags
Some of my favourite make-up bags and pouches have been freebies - I never travel without a Glossier pouch of some capacity, the bubble wrap design is perfect for protecting any glass containers and/or valuables. I also use my free Skin Laundry and Diptyque drawstring bags for storing and separating underwear in my suitcase; the tiny plastic Sisley pouches are ideal for taking a lip balm and some coins to the beach. Who knew my hoarding ways would finally benefit me.
