A BIT OF A BATHROOM BEAUTY EDIT.

A BIT OF A BATHROOM BEAUTY EDIT.

The daily edit…

I said at the start of this year I was going to be a little more adventurous with the products I regularly, it’s just so hard to get caught up in using your old favourites time and time again, isn’t it? Every time I’ve had to replace or repurchase a product in the last few months – whether it be shampoo, cleanser or even deodorant, I’ve tried to pick up a different brand or product just to spice things up a little. I’m SUCH a creature of habit, which can be a little boring for blog content…

That said, it’s definitely worked in my favour. My regular rummages in my beauty stash have meant that my routines have stepped up a notch. Allow me to introduce…

Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask; I’ve always been a bit wary of moisture masks because my skin is so tedious, breaking out whenever I use anything heavier than a very light oil! However, I decided to take the risk with this perfectly packaged pick and I’m glad I did! It’s one of *the* best masks I’ve come across. I slather it on every time my skin is feeling a little parched or looking lacklustre, within ten minutes it absolutely transforms my complexion! You can expect plump, dewy, radiant skin in one application.

L’Occitane Almond Milk Veil*; The L’Occitane Almond scent is one of my favourite fragrances ever, I find it so luxurious! I’ve been using the Shower Oil for years and years, but the Milk Veil is a new one for me. The silky body lotion has a handy pump bottle which makes it perfect for slathering on quickly after a shower. If silky, super soft limbs are your thing, this is the product for you!
I have the Supersize version, which I very much recommend if you’re also an Almond superfan!

Kerastase Blond Absolu Bain Lumiere Shampoo*; I’m a slave to balayage, it’s so easy to maintain and I can go months without seeing my hairdresser if I need to. The only issue being that my hair just loves to be warmer than I want it, so I’m always ending up with brassy tones that need freshening up. I discovered this Kerastase range a little while ago and I love that it tones my hair without drying it out. It’s lightweight enough to be used regularly, and it doesn’t have the bright purple colour that often stains my hands and shower.
The range smells delicious and my hair is always extra swishy after use!

Alpha H Vitamin B With Copper Tripeptide*; This isn’t usually something I would go for (although yes I am a magpie for a pretty bottle), but after a little breakout recently (humidity + masks, ugh) I found myself desperate for a treatment that would help. This lightweight serum contains niacinamide which my skin doesn’t usually agree with, but I’ve always seen good results from using copper tripeptide so I thought it was worth the risk. I’m a few weeks in to using it a three or four times a week and it’s been working it’s magic on my tricky complexion. I tend to apply it just on my jawline where I get breakouts and it’s been doing the trick!

Liz Earle Balancing Gel Mask*; I haven’t used Liz Earle skincare in a long time, for no reason other than I haven’t had any in my stash! I sought out this little mask when I had overdone it on the spot cream recently – you know how your skin feels after you’ve gone IN with salicylic acid? Ouch. One application of this and my skin felt calmed, and blemishes looked a lot less intense too. A lot one for slathering on when your skin needs a little TLC.

No7 Youthful Glow Face Oil*; I’ve been on a bit of a No7 hype lately; before working with the brand recently they sent a few products over and I can’t believe how much my skin loves it all.
I love adding a few drops of this in to my palms and massaging in to my skin every evening, it’s light enough that my skin doesn’t break out but nourishing enough that my skin feels beautifully nourished. I’m a big fan!

Biossance Squalane + Glycolic Renewal Facial Mask; I’d heard good things about Biossance from bloggers I follow in the US, and I adore any sort of ‘facial in a bottle’ product so I just had to give this a whirl. It’s a little bit like my forever favourite Origins Rose Clay Mask – it’s pink, it’s got little exfoliating beads, and it does WONDERS for my skin.
This is my Sunday night staple for a good skin week ahead – one application and my complexion is poppin’!

Darphin Ideal Resource Renewing Capsules*; I usually think things like this are a bit gimmicky, but I was wrong about this one. I actually looked these up to see what the deal was and it was the reviews that convinced me to give them a chance. I love that these are portioned out as I can be a little heavy handed with products – probably why I break out so much…
Nourishing without feeling heavy, lovely to apply and with brightening benefits, these are pretty much everything I look for in a skincare product. Dreamy!

A lovely edit of products I’ve discovered over the last wee while and used enough to give you a little rundown. Have you tried any of these?

Lift and Detox Skin with a Gua Sha Facial at Home

Lift and Detox Skin with a Gua Sha Facial at Home

How to Use Your Patented LANSHIN PRO Facial Gua Sha tool - YouTube

Gua Sha is one of Kiehl's most popular skin enhancements to lift and detox skin. While we're apart, we thought we'd show you how to take matters into your own hands. Watch as I break it down step-by-step.

Facial Gua Sha - DORÉ

What is Gua Sha?

Gua sha is a traditional East Asian and Chinese technique used to invite well-being, circulation, and remove stagnant toxin build-up in the body. Gua Sha uses gemstones to help with the lymphatic system. It's the unsung hero of all the body systems that we have. It helps with moving along any kind of waste or toxins in the body. Unlike a heart that pumps blood, it's stimulated only by external forces. You've got to manually push the Gua sha stone and glide toward your lymph nodes to get the toxins flowing and moving.

Watch step by step on Lanshin youtube Channel .

What You'll Need

Products That Boost Benefits

  1.  A Gua Sha Stone
    • However, quartz mushrooms, a jade or rose quartz roller, and even a spoon will work, too.
  2. A Cleanser
    • Begin your massage with a freshly cleansed surface.
  3. An Oil or Balm
    • Create slip and glide for a smooth massage.
  4. A Moisturiser or Mask
    • Apply a moisturiser to lock in hydration post-Gua Sha.

Why It Works

Top 5 Benefits Of Gua Sha:

  1. Reduces Puffiness
    • Gua Sha boosts blood circulation to banish bloat. The draining movements help break up fascia, the connective tissues that hug muscles but can sometimes interfere with optimal circulation.
  2. Sculpts & Lifts Facial Muscles
    • By stimulating our lymphatic passageways, Gua Sha helps remove excess fluid and hydrate the spots that need it, so facial features look more defined.
  3. Relieves Tension & Stress
    • This ritual releases the tension you've been holding around the jaw and between the eyebrows, while soothing the mind. Apply essential oils to your wrists, light a candle, and take some time just for you.
  4. Decreases Acne & Breakouts
    • Stimulating lymph encourages toxin drainage, so Gua Sha may also calm and prevent blemishes. Don't massage over active acne, and instead work below any areas of inflammation.
  5. Brightens Under Eye Circles
    • Gua Sha boosts circulation around the eyes, which can alleviate dark circles. Be sure to use lighter pressure around your eyes as this skin is more delicate.

Cosy Autumn Evening Picks.

Cosy Autumn Evening Picks.

Cosy Autumn Evenings

Cosy Autumn evening treats...
You guys knowwwww by now how much I adore a cosy hot bubble bath. My instagram is full of all the bath pics lately, but I couldn't resist sharing my current Autumn evening favourites with you all. I love a good bath all year round but there's definitely something extra cosy about them when the cold weather and darker evenings hit. I'm all about the scent, hydration and exfoliation lately, as my skin gets drier the closer we creep towards winter - so here's a few essentials I think every girl needs in her bathroom...

Cosy Autumn EveningsCosy Autumn Evenings

Lush Magic Crystals Shower Scrub
First of all, can we just talk about the colour of the Magic Crystals Shower Scrub from Lush? It's bright purple and it's such a treat to cover yourself in. The scent is extremely intense so if you don't like that sort of thing then best to avoid this. It's minty as hell, if you love the smell of toothpaste then you will be obsessed. I am such a massive fan, not only does it leave my skin extremely exfoliated and as soft as a little baby bum, but it literally feels like you've just brushed your teeth, but all over your body. You know that minty fresh feeling you have in your mouth after brushing your teeth? That's exactly how this makes you feel wherever you apply it. I love adding this to my evening routine but it's also amazing to use first thing on a morning in the shower, so so refreshing! My skin has been so dry lately so I'm living for this stuff.

Lush Sparkly Pumpkin Bubble Bar
I've been obsessed with the Sparkly Pumpkin Bubble Bar from Lush for years. It's by far the messiest product they sell but it's oh so worth it. I wish it was sold all year round because sometimes you just need a whole 'lotta glitter in your life don't you? I just adore the scent and the colour it makes my bath, and I always come out smelling and feeling so fresh. One of the best Autumn treats for October!

Fresh Rose Face Mask
I'm quite literally addicted to the Fresh Rose Face Mask at the moment, if you love to wake up with plump, supple skin then this is the one. You're only supposed to leave this on for 5-10 minutes but my favourite way to use it is to put it on after or during my bath and just leave it on all night, it melts into my skin and soaks it all up. No rinsing necessary. I wake up with such lovely hydrated, glowing skin that it makes it completely addictive. I'm starting to run low, I'm using it that much, it's heavenly! If you get dehydrated skin during the colder months then you absolutely need this.

Lush Ectoplasm Shower Cream
The Ectoplasm Shower Cream from Lush is amazing if you love citrus-y scents like I do, the tangerine and grapefruit oils really make this product. It's so strong and I'm obsessed with the way my skin smells after using it. I use it in the bath and let it soak on my skin and it's one of those shower creams that just leaves you feeling so refreshed and with the most incredible scent. I would highly recommend giving this a whirl before it's no longer available! Heaven!

Antipodes Reincarnation Pure Facial Exfoliator
Another exfoliating product I swear by at the moment is the Reincarnation Pure Facial Exfoliator from Antipodes. It's extremely gentle on the skin so it's perfect for those with sensitive skin, and it gently lifts away dry or rough patches on your face leaving it looking and feeling so fresh and supple. It has quite a subtle scent, but gorgeous nonetheless and it's just a real treat to use on an evening after cleansing. There's nothing worse than trying to apply makeup to rough, dry skin in the morning so I use this most evenings and I wake up with the perfect base.

What are your current Autumn evening favourites?

  1.  First remove your old nail polish with a non-acetone nail polish remover with a cotton pad.
  2.  Buff feet when dry, not wet. To really shift dead skin. Use a sturdy foot file and focus on the heels, balls of feet and edges of toes.
  3.   Soak your feet in a tub or basin in the worm water you can put soaking salts or bubble bath for 10 minutes.
  4.   Massage feet briskly with a foot scrub to get rid of the last dregs of dead skin, then rinse.
  5.    Dry your feet and gently ease back your cuticles with a cuticle stick.
  6.  Cut your nails straight across with nail clippers. Make lots of little snips, rather than all at once, or you might break your nail.
  7. Use a nail file to gently round the edges of your toenails so they don't snag your tights.
  8.   Massage your feet with a rich foot cream.
  9.  For the ultimate treat, apply foot lotion before bedtime, wrap them in cling film, then add some socks and hop into bed. Wake up to dreamy-soft soles!
  10.  If you want to add some colour, wipe off the foot lotion from your nails using a damp cotton wool pad. Then add a base coat, two layers of polish and a high-shine topcoat.
  11.  For a low-maintenance finish adds a coat of stain corrector which instantly brightens your nail tip and makes the nail bed pinker and prettier.
