The trailer for the holiday romantic comedy Last Christmas starring Emilia Clarke and Henry Golding is here and it is completely adorable.
Romantic comedies have been making quite a comeback these days, and we couldn’t be more on board with that trend. For instance, the new movie Last Christmas starring Game of Thrones‘ Emilia Clarke and Crazy Rich Asians star Henry Golding just released its trailer, and it has got so much for romcom fans to be excited about.

Last Christmas is inspired by the famous George Michael tune of the same name and follows Kate (Clarke) as she does her best to get by in London, working at a Christmas shop and generally being a bundle of bad decisions. When Kate meets Tom (Golding) in a chance encounter, the two begin to bond and Kate begins to lower some of the walls she built up around herself after a serious illness nearly killed her.
As Christmas gets closer, Tom and Kate keep randomly running into each other, keeping their relationship moving, despite the odds. So, what is in store for Tom and Kate?
Why do they keep randomly meeting, and will they find love together? While the official movie synopsis says, “Sometimes you gotta let the snow fall where it may, you gotta listen to your heart…and you gotta have faith,” we can’t help but wonder if something more is going on.
After all, the movie’s tagline being “It’s a wonderful life,” it automatically makes one think about the holiday flick It’s a Wonderful Life and wonder if there some supernatural or angelic shenanigans orchestrating Tom and Kate’s serendipitous meetings. Of course, it also could be that this reporter watches too much Supernatural and just automatically equates a dude in a trench coat with undercover angelic encounters.
Regardless, Last Christmas looks absolutely adorable. And with actors like Emma Thompson and Michelle Yeoh rounding out the cast paired with Golding and Clarke’s chemistry that absolutely leaps off the screen, this feels like the perfect, snow-covered romcom to enjoy this holiday season.
Last Christmas has the makings of becoming a new holiday romcom staple. Not only does it have great actors bringing us romcom adorableness to a soundtrack based wholly in George Michael tunes, Last Christmas is also written by Emma Thompson and Greg Wise (Sense and Sensibility, Bridget Jones’s Baby), and it is directed by Paul Feig (Bridesmaids).
So get excited to go on this adorable, snow-covered journey this holiday season. Last Christmas opens in movie theaters on November 8.
