Self-Care Habits I Swear By

A good skincare routine: my skincare routine morning and night. My most recent skincare routine is linked here. Updated routine .
Taking time for yourself first thing: I try to wake up before my family as much as I can. Some days I do my workout or walk. Some days I just read with my coffee. Some days it’s just enough time to do my skincare routine. I think taking a few minutes for yourself every morning is just the thing to start your day on a non rushed note.
Finding a workout you love: It took me years to figure out that my favorite workout was barre. I tried spin, kickboxing, all sorts of things. Sure there are other workouts I enjoy: yoga, Pilates, cardio, swimming. But barre has my heart. Finding a workout you love makes you really look forward to workouts.
Reading: This may not be for everyone as I know not everyone loves reading for fun. I am a big fan of it. When we take vacations one thing I look forward to is the chance to read for hours uninterrupted. I try to read 30-60 minutes each day.
Connecting with your loved ones: I think being able to connect with loved ones is a huge form of self-care. The other night I chatted on the phone with my mums and dads family for an hour. About just random stuff: politics, TV, etc. I see them several times a week and we live less than 10 minutes from each other but talking on the phone is one of our favorite things.
Having a tidy space: Again, this may be a personal preference. I love having a clean space. I am one of those people who can’t go to sleep unless things are in their spot. I will never have a dish left out in the sink overnight, etc. To me, cleaning and organizing are self-care.
Hygiene: I have never missed a day of showering. Tweezing my eyebrows, shaving my legs, making sure you are taking care of yourself first is so important.
I want to reiterate that self-care is NOT selfish or something you ever should feel guilty about. You have to put yourself first sometimes and there’s nothing wrong with that.
What self-care habits do YOU swear by?
